No More Diets, Issue #068 - The Secret to Weight Loss
December 21st, 2006
|
Hi
The new home for Simply Slimming on the web is now up and running at www.simplyslmming.com with a separate site for members at www.simplyslimming.net. I'm pleased that all the technical stuff is finally out of the way so I can concentrate fully on what I love to do - helping people lose weight.
For those of you who celebrate Christmas or other holidays in the next few days have a great time and those of you who don't have a great time anyway. Remember to enjoy yourself without getting stuffed!
If you don't have it already you can pick up my free 24 page report on having a great time at Christmas without piling on the pounds (works for other holidays too) at http://www.SimplySlimming.com/Christmas. Although the system has you subscribe again, you won't get two copies of this newsletter (if you use the same email address) as the service I use prevents duplicates.
Have a great weekend too
Love

Feature article : The Secret to Weight Loss
I had quite a sad email yesterday from a lady who co-authored a best-selling book on losing weight and lost a lot of weight herself. She has regained all the pounds she lost.
I admired her honesty. I can happen to any of us - even after reaching our target weight. In fact, it happens more often than not - over 95% of the time.
You see it's not knowledge about weight loss that is the secret (this lady had that by the bucket-load). It's not knowing about fats and calories and carbohydrates. It's not about being aware of how much exercise you need or how to put a healthy meal together.
Initially it's your mindset which counts and which underpins everything. It's constantly reminding yourself of your goal and being determined to achieve it which makes the difference. It's constantly picking yourself up and getting back on track when you fail to follow your plan. But more than anything the secret is in keeping going with healthy eating and moving your body after you lose weight for the rest of your life to avoid going right back to where you started.
It's my belief that we are all capable of the effort required to lose weight and we all have (or can easily get) the knowledge, we just get discouraged along the way and stop doing what we know works either during or after the process.
That's why when I work with clients it's not all about passing on tips and secrets (though I have quite a few strategies up my sleeve for every occasion). And it's not just about providing support and encouragement (though we all need that). It's about getting into good habits because good habits are the secret to healthy lasting weight loss. You don't even have to think about them once they are part of your normal routine and way of thinking and you don't need constant encouragement and motivation once they are firmly in place. You just eat, move, think like the slim person you are.
What one habit could you start from today which would take you one step closer to losing weight permanently? Why not start there? Right now! Copyright 2006, Janice Elizabeth Small

Recipe of the Week: Cheesy Carrot Jackets
Anything but more turkey this week ...

- 350g (12oz) grated carrot
- 1 tablespoon oil

Prick the potatoes with a fork and bake in a hot oven (200 degrees Centigrade/400 F/Gas Mark 6) until soft when squeezed (about an hour and a half). Heat the oil in a pan and fry the mustard seeds for a few seconds before adding the carrots and stir frying for a minute. Mix with the mayonnaise, cheese and lemon juice.
