No More Diets, Issue #071 - What Are Your Chances?
January 16th, 2007

Hi

My children are finally back at school so we are more or less back to normal now.

They are still enjoying the Wii  - has anyone got one? I wasn't keen at first on having yet another games console in the house but this one is fun and it seems to make the kids more active rather than less despite my initial fears. You have to see someone playing Wii sports to believe it!

Bit of a hard hitting article again this week - sorry - but I thought it needed to be said and somehow I can't stop myself saying it :)

Have a Fun Week

Feature article : What Are Your Chances?

Your chances of losing weight and keeping it off for more than a few months are, on average, pretty low. They say that somewhere between 95 and 98 percent of dieters fail to achieve that.

But does it really make a difference what average dieters do?

Of course it doesn't because it only matters what you do.

And you CAN succeed whatever anyone else does or says.

Losing weight is something that you can do without anyone else having a say in the matter. You don't have to rely on or worry about anyone else (at least as long as you are an able adult). You decide what you put in your mouth and no one else. You decide how active you want to be.

So you see the goal is entirely within your grasp.

The two to five percent who succeed are those who decide what they want and then don't let anything get in their way - not a business trip, not a party, not a vacation and certainly not any kind of set back. They just get right back on track, refocus on their goal and get going again.

Countless people have changed their bodies and their state of health. And you can too if you do what it takes.

But that's just it, you have to be prepared to do what it takes. It's not a case of knowing what your chances are of losing weight. There is no real chance involved - there's just making the effort or not making the effort.

Of course you can help yourself by choosing a weight loss program or exercise plan which suits your personal circumstances and which feels like less of an effort but the fact is you still have to make changes if you want things to be different.

You decide for yourself what your chances of success are by what changes you are prepared to make and you decide how long you will keep the weight off by the changes you are prepared to make permanently.

Your chances of losing weight and keeping it off can be 100% this year (or zero!). Instead of dabbling half-heartedly with another best-seller diet book with lots of hope and not much in the way of action and change, think about what you are prepared to do and do it!
