There are so many ways you can take a wrong turning when losing weight that it's a wonder anyone ever loses any. That's why it's so difficult. Every day you have new opportunities to mess up.
But of course the odd bad meal or bad day is not going to ruin your weight loss plans.
The mistakes which will really affect your weight loss plans are those which you keep making over and over again. The following list of mistakes will get in the way of your success like nothing else unless you get out of the habit of making them
- eating beyond the point where you're satisfied
- eating for any reason other than pure physical hunger
- choosing junk food over delicious home-cooked healthy food
- eating food which is not worth the calories (not just junk but junk food that you don't even like that much)
- being lazy about moving your body (not even formal exercise just keeping active throughout the day every day)
- killing your metabolism by starving yourself, missing meals
- missing meals and then eating far too much later
- nibbling food without even thinking about it
- using food as a comfort blanket (find other ways to relieve stress, boredom, anxiety - food won't love you back)
- getting "your money's worth" when eating out (choose quality over quantity every time)
- destroying your blood sugar balance by eating too many sweets and refined carbohydrates without any balancing protein or fat
- thinking "just this once won't harm" several times a week (or day!)
- thinking "what's the point?" when you hit a couple of weeks with no change in the scales and giving up when success is just round the corner
- thinking I'll start tomorrow (or on Monday, or next month) and piling on the calories in anticipation of later taking them off (you won't)
- never getting started (there's no day like today to start eating like a slim person - enjoying your food without guilt, eating just enough to feel good, eating healthily for the most part with a few less healthy foods you love to keep things interesting....)
Which mistakes are you making over and over again? Do you know what to do about them if you are?
Instead of thinking about your problems with losing weight, think about your personal solutions. Find them and you'll be so much nearer to success.
And there are always solutions for every habit you have which is getting in the way of losing weight.
Ask yourself "How can I ....?" not "Why is this so difficult?" and keep asking until you find the answer. Think around the problem. Look at what others do, especially those who have succeeded in losing weight and keeping it off.
Because if any one has ever solved the issues you have with weight loss then you can too.
And if you've thought about it for a while and really can't figure out how, drop me a note and ask. You can do this, you really can!
